Life throws us curve balls, some can be hard hitting.
No-one ever expects to become an advocate for suicide, and it isn't an easy title to carry. Depression and Mental Health are crippling diseases that needs to have the stigma of silence surrounding them come to a halt. It's a real deal, and I am extremely passionate about breaking the silence.
It is okay, to not be okay, and it's okay to talk about your Mental Health.
We lost our son, Wesley to depression (death by suicide) on May 22, 2023 and the journey has not been easy to process. Wesley knew he was loved by his family, and we showered him with love, laughter, care, and quality time together throughout his 23 years.
“Despite progress, one person still dies every 40 seconds from suicide,” said WHO Director-General, Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus. “Every death is a tragedy for family, friends and colleagues.
Suicide rate highest in high-income countries; second leading cause of death among young people.
I am sharing this season of my life with you, my client, collector, or however you define yourself in loving the arts, to let you know that with every piece sold I give/donate 10% to AFSP (American Foundation of Suicide Prevention) and ECSPC (Elkhart County Suicide Prevention Coalition) because it matters to me to help others' and their families suffering the same avenues as our Wes.
The first step in preventing suicide is talking. Please check in on your loved ones, have conversations, share time together. It could save a life, possibly your own.
Should you want to donate to any of the these organizations please click the links below. Imagine a world without Suicide.
